Enjoy a breathtaking course in the Auburn State Park and support kids fitness with the Running School Fun Run (formerly the Auburn Rotary Community Day Run). The 5k, 10k and Kids 1-mile courses wind along the canyon rim in the Auburn State Park, with beautiful views of the American River below.
The 5k course is on a 100% traffic-free paved road in the Auburn State Park. You gently lose elevation from starting line to turnaround 190' below, then retrace your steps back out of the canyon to Railhead Park finish line. Pets on leash and strollers are welcome!
The 10k course is virtually identical to the Auburn Triathlon route - making this a great tuneup event for triathletes racing later in May. The course is a mixture of shaded single/doubletrack trails and paved roads, almost entirely free of traffic. No pets or strollers due to narrow trail sections. Description: Flat for 1.5 miles, .5 good uphill, flat .5 Skyridge fitness trail, gradual downhill for 1.25 mile, flat for 1.25 mile. Steady uphill for 1 mile, flat final .2 mile.
The Kids 1-Mile course is on an extremely wide, safe, straight, 100% traffic free paved road in the Auburn State Park. After circling the grass soccer fields, the course gradually descends on wide, paved state park road, then runners turn around and return to the park. The event is open to kids 10&under and entry is FREE! Kids over 10 are encouraged to enter the 5k and will enjoy a discounted entry fee. Parents and older kids are welcome to accompany younger ones on their journey!.
