Brad
Kearns, President and Executive Director
Brad conceived of the Running School program
and formed the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in January of
2007 in Auburn, California. In his nine-year career as a professional triathlete, Brad was a two-time national champion and #3-ranked
professional in the world. As a youth runner, Brad was a California State High School Championships finalist in the mile run, and competed on the NCAA Division I cross-country team at UC Santa Barbara.
Brad has been a noted author, speaker and coach in the fitness and corporate world for two decades. Brad has co-produced the Skyridge Elementary School Olympics program for the past four years, assists with the annual school Jog-A-Thon and weekly with primary grade P.E. classes. His new Skyridge Morning Mile program, where students begin their day with a ten-minute run before going to class, was featured on KCRA Channel 3’s morning news program. Brad has coached youth soccer and basketball in Auburn for five years and produces the Auburn Triathlon each May. This event attracts over 600 participants, including some of the world’s top professionals, and is lauded as the most difficult half-ironman race in the world.
Brad has authored numerous books on health, fitness and athletics, including two motivational books, about Lance Armstrong and Tiger Woods, and how you can apply their champion attitude and behavior qualities to your own peak performance goals. From 1999-2002, Brad delivered a unique employee peak performance program to the Silicon Valley software company Interwoven, Inc., which was lauded in worldwide media as defining the cutting edge of corporate employee wellness. Brad graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1985 with an honors degree in Business/Economics and minors in running injuries and surfing. Brad lives in Auburn and is married to Tracy. They have two elementary school aged children, Jack and Maria.
Brad’s role is to oversee the organization as Executive Director – creating school and sponsor partnerships, creating content for marketing, promotional, web and program curriculum and managing boards, staff and coaches. Furthermore, Brad has a hands-on role with all program children, serving as a Head Coach at each school and hosting the introductory assemblies. Dr. Ray
Sidney, Ph.D., Vice President
Ray is the President and Owner of Big
George Ventures LLC , the premier eco-friendly real estate
developer in Carson Valley, Nevada. Ray obtained his
undergraduate degree Mathematics from Harvard in 1991 and
his doctorate in Mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in 1995. In 1999, Ray was hired as the second
engineer at Google, Inc., where he was instrumental in
building the world's best-known search engine. Ray also
designed and coordinated Google's first two employee fitness
facilities.
Ray is a passionate all-around athlete,
enjoying numerous endurance and winter sports. He has
completed many triathlon, running, and cycling
ultra-distance events, including an Ironman and a single day
crossing of the Sierra by mountain bike. Ray is a keen supporter of youth sports, helping fund, and volunteer coach, the youth ice hockey program in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Ray’s Big George Ventures also financed construction of a new athletic complex at Douglas High School in Minden, NV, featuring a state-of-the-art, all-weather football field and the running track and soccer field complex at South Tahoe Middle School. Ray lives in Stateline, NV, where he shreds the slopes of Heavenly Valley daily in the winter.
Kevin
Pedrotti, Secretary
Kevin is the founder and
principal of JKPedrotti., Inc., a government relations firm
in Sacramento, California. In nearly three decades of experience at
the state capitol, Kevin has handled legislative, political
and regulatory affairs for numerous clients. Kevin often
champions the cause of healthy, fit lifestyles for
Californians, including serving on the California
Association of Hospitals’ management team for grassroots
organization and for health-related ballot propositions. A
Public Administration graduate of California State
University at Chico, Kevin is an accomplished marathon
runner and Ironman triathlete. His triathlon record and his
national caliber 2:33 marathon time caused a Sacramento
newspaper to anoint Kevin “Sacramento’s Fittest Lobbyist.”
Kevin played an instrumental role in the
formation of the joint assembly California Task Force on
Youth and Workplace Wellness, which influences legislation
and public policy on critical issues such as physical
fitness and nutritional health in California’s schools and
workplaces. Kevin is married to Janet and they live in Fair
Oaks, California with their young son Max.
Bob Powers, Treasurer
Bob is the managing partner of Granite Electrical Supply,
Inc. in Sacramento, California. He has been in the wholesale
electrical supply business for over 20 years in the
Sacramento area. Bob is a lifelong athlete - he starred in track and basketball at Los Altos, California High School and played basketball at Foothill College in Los Altos. He has completed numerous
triathlons, ultra-marathon runs and bike rides. Bob, a competitive golfer, won the 1996 Northern California Speed Golf championships with a stunning round of 81 in 53 minutes on the difficult championship course of Twelve Bridges in Lincoln, California.
In 1988, Bob received
national recognition for designing and completing a personal
endurance challenge to raise funds for charity. Over the
summer, he bicycled 2,000 miles, supporting pledges from
numerous corporate and individual sponsors. Bob has
organized numerous golf tournaments to raise funds
for charitable causes in Northern California. Bob attended
Foothill College in Los Altos and received an Associate
of Arts degree in 1986. He lives in Auburn and is
married to Debbie, one of California top dressage competitors. They have a college-age son, Dillon. |
